Fleet Manager - Construction / Heavy Equipment

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a Fleet Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our heavy equipment fleet. This role will involve managing a wide range of construction machinery, including bulldozers, excavators, and other specialized equipment used on our projects. The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional with a strong background in fleet management, maintenance, and logistics within the construction industry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the regular maintenance and servicing of heavy construction equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and track service records for all equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, coordinating repairs as necessary.
  • Manage the procurement process for new and replacement equipment, including research, vendor relations, and negotiations.
  • Track and maintain an accurate inventory of equipment, tools, and spare parts.
  • Develop and manage fleet budget, including purchasing, leasing, and maintenance costs.
  • Ensure that all equipment complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety standards and certifications.
  • Coordinate the scheduling and allocation of equipment across multiple job sites, ensuring efficient use and minimizing downtime.
  • Analyze fleet performance and make recommendations for improving utilization and reducing idle time.
  • Track and report on fuel consumption, repair costs, and overall fleet efficiency.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, service providers, and equipment rental companies.
  • Negotiate service contracts and warranties for equipment maintenance and repairs.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in fleet management, maintenance, or operations within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment used across the construction industry.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve equipment issues promptly.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in fleet management software, as well as MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Annual salary $80,000+ based on experience
